Amreli Census 2011 Highlights


Total population of Amreli is 1,513,614 as per latest provisional figures released by Directorate of Census Operations in Gujarat. This shows increase of 8.59 percent in 2011 compared to figures of 2001 census. The initial figures of data shows that male and female were 770,651 and 742,963 respectively. Amreli District of Gujarat comprises an area of 7,397 sq.km. As per census 2011, density of Amreli District per square km is 205 compared to 188 per sq.km of 2001.

Sex ratio of girls in Amreli district per 1000 boys was recorded 964 i.e. an decrease of 23 points from the figure of 2001 census which puts it at 987.

In 2011 census, data of Amreli district regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected. There were total 168,715 children under age of 0-6 against 198,657 of 2001 census. Of total 168,715 male and female were 89,782 and 78,933 respectively. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 879 compared to 892 of census 2001. Children’s proportion in total population was around 2.51 percent. This figure was around 2.75 percent as per 2001 census.

In education sector, Amreli District is having average literacy rate of 74.49 percent. Male literacy and female literacy were 81.82 and 66.97 percent respectively. In all, there were total 1,001,768 literates compared to 789,978 literates of 2001 census.
